Description
Blending and segmenting are two of the most important skills students need to expertly decode and encode words.
This resource is dedicated to practicing those critical skills!
It is intended to be used whole group where all students can see the words and activities.
I always have my students using dry erase boards and markers during phonological awareness time.
It allows for everyone to be engaged and allows for me to quickly see how I can support students and give timely feedback.
The blending and segmenting activities follow a systematic order:
short vowels, consonant blends, digraphs,
silent e, r-controlled vowels, vowel teams,
and diphthongs.
