Figurative Language doesn’t have to be confusing for kids. With this awesome game and packet, you can introduce and give your students practice with 6 types of figurative language in a very fun and meaningful way that they are sure to remember!
Introduce your students to the Figurative Friends: Simile Sally, Metaphor Mike, Personification Pete, Ollie Onomatopoeia, Iggy Idiom, and Hyperbole Helen are just the friends your students need to help them learn all about figurative language.
The game is set up Jeopardy style through the use of Microsoft PowerPoint. Just enter the presentation mode from the first slide!
***Please note that if you do not have POWERPOINT you CAN NOT use the file the way it was intended to be used.***
This can be done whole group or as a center with a small group. Rules are included in the game. Students will select from each category and earn 10, 15, 20, or 25 points. It will be up to you or the students to keep track of the points they have earned.
Once a question has been selected, it will fade away from the game board, even if the student has selected the wrong answer. Starting the game over will bring all of the selections back. 🙂
All questions are multiple choice. I encourage my students to look at all of the answer choices and use the review to remember what each type of figurative language is. Using the Anchor Chart from my figurative language pack would helpful too!
I truly hope you enjoy this product and I hope your class does too! 🙂
Have fun playing and learning!
