If your answer is something along the lines of being color blind or kids being too young, I'm going to need you to look into these excuses more. Racial biases have been observed in babies worldwide. This comes from familiarity, but as kids grow and develop, these preferences can turn into stereotypes and negative racial attitudes that affect the way they treat and talk to other children and people. When kids are given the opportunity to interact with people from different racial backgrounds in a positive way, they develop positive racial attitudes throughout their childhood. It has to be intentional though! Direct conversations and questions that guide their thinking.

Or you know, continue being complicit. But uh, you might wanna delete that black square from your feed. Knowing your family is racist and not agreeing with them, but being relatively silent about it, doesn't make you better than them. You're not robbing the bank, but you're driving the getaway car.
Also, I hate the posts and "jokes" where people say, "On my way to ruin Thanksgiving." or "On my way to start a fight at Thanksgiving dinner." First of all, COVID-19. Second of all, this shouldn't be the start of anything. This should be an ongoing conversation and work you've been putting in. Thanksgiving shouldn't be much different than the FaceTime you had last week discussing racism. An uncomfortable or heated conversation with your people could save someone else's life. Laws can't change people's hearts. We need change from the top down and from the bottom up.
